I write this during an unusually oppressive summer where there is no escape from the heat. Looking to the future shows even hotter summers to come due to climate change. This latest album by L'Avenue presents an idea and an image of the ideal summer: a relaxing summer, an enjoyable, beautiful, wet summer. These smooth synthscapes make me imagine a summer with shade and a pool, a daiquiri and a cool ocean breeze. L'Avenue have given me 25 minutes where my mind is free while my body sweats. dharmalogos
uplifting, heroic, and mind bending. this is one of the best produced, pitch perfect synthwave releases this year. the title track just GOES from the starting gorgeous synth arpeggios, to the 80's rock inspired vocals, and that insane guitar solo. it took me 20 minutes to get past the damn track. a contender for my synthwave song of the year. not that the whole album isn't amazing; it surely is. I just think Ascend is the standout track, hands down. palehorse666
A deep synthwave trip into a blighted neon dystopia where androids and doomsday cults wreak havoc. Flashy, imaginative work from James Kent. Bandcamp New & Notable May 5, 2016
Oceanside85 is always doing something new; and so it is no surprise that this record is full gambit, full arsenal of mood, groove, over all full assault of multifaceted ideas that tell a very cohesive story. The harmonies are solid, melodies are to dance to, but my personal favorite aspect of this album is the lyrical content. Hands down Timelines is my favorite just for this reason because it speaks to me. This is a mega album to be proud of and shared. ghostech_music2017
